As The Drum Turns…

The new parking lot at Chandler’s corporate office gets some inside help from Casey Roberts.

2009 has been challenging in the Alamance County and Burlington markets. Despite these conditions we have maintained good relationships with our customers and have been looking for any and every opportunity that presents itself.

One project we have been working is the Mebane Street widening job that has been in plans for more than 10 years. We teamed up with Yates Construction in this expansion of an existing two lane road that will take place over a two year period. The total yardage in the curb and gutter alone is over 2000 yards.

We have also been working a job with Landmark Builders on the Precor building in Whitsett. Over 9000 yards has been delivered to the jobsite since early this year.

Many other commercial customers are in various stages of completion on their projects. These include Sandvik in Mebane (Samet Corporation and TT Graham), RV Parking and Storage (Sasser Construction and Premier Concrete), UNC Resource and Research Facility (HM Kern and JMW Concrete). Two other projects include Bethel Baptist Church and Darrell Allen Body Shop (Chadco Builders and Premier Concrete).

Although residential construction has slowed, many contractors have continued building custom houses. Many of these were entered in the recent Parade of Homes. The builders include; Wilson Homes, LLC, Hallmark Home Builders, Virtue Homes, Inc., Shoffner Construction and Development, Fox Den Properties and Wolfe and Company Construction, Inc.
